The Mentorship Program

Developed in 2021 by the Resiliency Center, the Mentorship Program supports new and experienced clinicians to bridge into private practice by providing quality supervision and guidance with the nuts and bolts of independent outpatient care.

As an expansion of the Mentorship Program, Elizabeth Campbell opened a second location of the Resiliency Center in Schwenksville. Area school districts and pediatricians have repeatedly expressed the need for additional counseling resources in this geographical area, and the Mentorship Program provides an opportunity to meet this need. The location will focus specifically on serving children and families, training counselors in play therapy, sand tray therapy, EMDR therapy, and the integration of play with EMDR therapy.

Who is the Mentorship Program For?

Therapists who choose to enter the Mentorship Program include those who have been working in non-profit agencies, community mental health centers, and schools and seek additional training in a specific modality (such as EMDR Therapy, IFS Therapy, or play therapy) and support in building an independent practice. New professionals also join the Mentorship Program, as interns in their second year of graduate school and as new Master’s degree graduates seeking a supervised setting where they can gain experience for licensure.

All mentees work closely with a practitioner in The Resiliency Center community as they grow. Specialized supervision towards EMDR Certification, IFS-Informed EMDR Certification, and Registered Play Therapy Certifications are also provided. Mentorship Program positions are one to two years commitments, depending on mentee learning goals.

Why Join the Mentorship Program?

The program was developed in response to current trends in which large group practices and tech companies have been hiring new professionals en masse — and failing to provide them with the support, mentorship, and guidance necessary to do their best work, develop skills, and provide optimal care for clients. This causes premature burn-out for counselors — and a shortage of skilled professionals for families in need of therapy.

The Mentorship Program has an added benefit: Increasing access to affordable counseling for families facing financial hardship. Mentees increase the availability of support at a lower rate than their supervising clinicians, while families benefit from the expertise of mentors with advanced training and decades in the field. The professional fees charged by counselors in the Mentorship Program vary depending on their years of experience.
